Motivational Interviewing

What is motivational interviewing (MI)?
Motivational interviewing is a client-centered, directive method for enhancing intrinsic motivation to
change by exploring and resolving ambivalence.

MI is used by professionals in many disciplines to help promote positive changes, such as:
Cessation of smoking or substance abuse
Compliance with health care routines (e.g., diet, exercise)
and many other healthy lifestyle changes
